John Da Baptist was born on February 16, in Long Island, NY. His biological father was on the first bus of Freedom Riders to tour the south in the 60s. His mother and step father were also very active members of the community. This might explain his strong political convictions and the various forms of social commentary displayed in his music. John the Baptist was exposed to hip hop at an early age. His influences include a range of emcees from Rakim, KRS-1, and Kool G Rap to 2Pac, Scarface, and UGK. John the Baptist, or JB as he is occasionally called, wrote his first rhyme at the age of 12. His skill level earned him a reputation in his neighborhood as a certified lyricist. With the industry, as he puts it, being filled with monotonous material; JBs sound vocalizes a variety of topics and situations that are easily relatable to the listener. From telling stories to creative concepts, his music aims to bring the artistry back to the forefront of hip hop.
